”What’s Your Story?” CCTV’s Tim O’Connor interviews singer/songwriter, Tom Letson

Tom Letson is a singer/songwriter in the Piedmont, and Appalachian traditions. His style has also been described as an Old-Time musician. He plays resonator guitar, banjo, and fiddle.
Starting on the East Coast, he's explored this country on foot, by rail and by thumb, with his guitar and not much else. He talked to CCTV from his base in Haines, Alaska.

Notes From Canton: Interview with American Folk singer, Peter Lehndorff

Musician Peter Lehndorff talks with CCTV's David Wells about his banjo, his songs, his writings, his remix of his albums, and the songs that'll be in the upcoming LIVE STREAM for the Open Book Coffee House, which will take place March 19th on the web at 7:30pm and streamed on Canton Community Tv. (GOTO CantonCommunityTv.org for station details). David compares the songwriters sense of humor in his songs with John Prine, though Peter notes some of his songs have a more serious tilt. Singer Sue Hill will join the LIVE performance with her fiddle and ukulele.

Walk, Bike and Hike Committee member, Jeff Sullivan, talks with CCTV's Andrea Galvin about the upcoming effort to "Keep Canton Beautiful" on April 30th, 2022 from 10AM to Noon. He talks about Neponset Street and Rt. 138 but that those roads are too dangerous for volunteers. (Jeff reached out to the Neponset County Sheriff who said he will have inmates clean those roads.) The school areas, fields and trails and downtown and other areas have all been targeted for the clean-up by volunteers. Canton Celebrates Black History Month

Canton's Cynthia Holcombe and Julie Beckham host this "Black History Month" celebration event at the Canton Public Library. The Canton High Chorus sings, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," the Black National Anthem, and Sam Cooke's, "A Change is Gonna Come." Author Candelaria Silva-Collins readings. Poet Leonard Tshitenge on the Spoken Word, "Racial Code."  And, author Ray Anthony Shepard speaks. Up to Speed: Christine Smith of Canton Sustainability Committee on Composting

CCTV's Andrea Galvin talks with Christine Smith about curbside composting coming to Canton. The Sustainability Committee works on ways to have the community cut back on its carbon footprint. The committee works with students and community leaders on ways town efficiencies can be more environmentally conscious. Canton Fire Chief, Charlie Doody, talks with Canton Community Tv's Andrea Galvin about winter emergency preparedness. He details the importance of emergency kits in the home and in the car. He talks about servicing home heating equipment and the importance of keeping outdoor venting free of show.. Space heaters and generator dangers and monoxide detectors are also discussed. Jan. 7, 2022. 

Canton‘s ”Salon Monique” and their life changing ”Wig Room.”

Salon Monique in Canton has a "Wig Room" for clients going through cancer or with alopecia. In this interview by CCTV's Andrea Galvin, we learn the kinds of wigs used under different circumstances, the importance of privacy and the new use of artificial hair.  

Canton‘s Town Clerk on December 14th Voting and Early voting schedule

Town Meeting approved by 2/3rds vote to use override funds to purchase the property at St. Gerard's. That puts the question before the entire town in the form of a ballot vote. Town Clerk Tracy Kenney explains the purpose of the December 14th town-wide vote and available hours for early voting as well as voting by mail. 

Special Town Meeting information hearing via the Senior Center

The purchase of St. Gerard's requires approval at special town meeting December 1st and many other ''moving parts." Listen to questions asked of town leaders regarding the possible uses to the town of the former church and the process the town must go through to acquire the property. This Zoom event was organized by Canton's Council on Aging.
